- Business Development Senior Manager (West Coast)
Description
We are currently seeking a highly motivated, strategic, and execution-oriented Business Development Senior Manager. The candidate will own revenue growth across the West Coast territory, driving new customer acquisition and expanding strategic accounts within biotech markets. This role carries direct responsibility for pipeline development, deal execution, and achieving monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets. This is a high-impact, cross-functional role that bridges marketing, operations, and commercial execution.
Requirements
Revenue ownership and execution
Own and deliver against monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue targets for the West Coast territory
Build, manage, and convert a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities aligned with company growth objectives
Lead end-to-end deal execution, including prospecting, qualification, proposal development, negotiation, and close
Drive expansion within existing strategic accounts through consultative selling and long-term relationship development
Territory strategy and market development
Develop and execute a comprehensive territory growth plan aligned with ASC strategy and commercial priorities
Identify, acquire, and expand key biotech, pharma, and academic accounts across the West Coast
Monitor competitive landscape, pricing dynamics, and emerging trends; provide actionable market intelligence to leadership
Represent ASC at industry conferences, trade shows, and client meetings to generate qualified leads and strengthen market presence
CRM, pipeline management, and sales reportingMaintain rigorous CRM discipline (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot), ensuring accurate, real-time tracking of leads, opportunities, and account activity
Own pipeline forecasting with high accuracy and visibility; provide weekly/monthly updates to leadership
Track and report key commercial KPIs including pipeline coverage, conversion rates, deal velocity, average deal size, and win/loss analysis
Partner with Marketing on lead generation effectiveness (MQL → SQL → Opportunity conversion) and campaign ROI
Drive continuous improvement in sales processes, reporting frameworks, and data integrity
Cross-functional collaboration Collaborate with Scientific and Operations teams to scope, position, and deliver tailored technical solutions
Partner with Marketing on targeted campaigns, messaging, and content aligned with customer needs
Ensure seamless handoff from sales to project execution teams to support customer success and repeat business
Thought leadership and customer engagementPresent ASC’s scientific and commercial value proposition to senior stakeholders through presentations, seminars, and consultative discussions
Maintain deep knowledge of genome engineering, cell therapy, and related market segments
Position ASC as a trusted partner in complex, multi-stakeholder buying environments
Desired qualifications
Based on the West Coast (Bay Area or San Diego strongly preferred)
5–10+ years of business development, sales, or commercial experience in life sciences
Proven track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets in complex, technical sales environments
Demonstrated success selling services, platforms, or technologies within bioproduction (e.g., CHO cell line development, process development, manufacturing workflows) and/or gene and cell therapy (e.g., genome engineering, viral/non-viral delivery, iPSC-based platforms)
Strong experience managing long sales cycles and multi-stakeholder decision processes across R&D, technical, procurement, and executive stakeholders
Established network within biotech, pharma, and advanced therapy ecosystems on the West Coast
Technical and commercial skills
Working knowledge of molecular biology, genome editing, cell culture, stem cells, or iPSC technologies
Strong CRM expertise (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) with disciplined pipeline management and forecasting
Experience with sales analytics, reporting, and KPI-driven performance management
Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex science into clear value propositions
Minimum education
B.S. in a scientific discipline; Ph.D. or advanced degree preferred
Minimum experience
Minimum 5 years of demonstrated, successful sales experience, preferably in the life science industry.
