Genmab is seeking a dynamic, inspirational and science-driven people leader to head our Global Translational Medicine & Research team. This is a unique opportunity to drive translational impact across a diversified pipeline of antibody formats, mechanisms of action, and indications.
The Role
As the Vice President, Head of Translational Medicine & Research, you will lead a global organization of 60+ scientists based in the US and the Netherlands. The team spans a broad spectrum of capabilities (including a translational lab in NL) and plays a pivotal role in shaping translational strategies from discovery through late-stage clinical development.
The Global Head of Translational Medicine & Research (TM&R) will report to the Head of Translational & Quantitative Sciences. You will represent TM&R on the Translational & Quantitative Sciences Leadership Team and be responsible for:
- Providing scientific and strategic direction for the delivery of comprehensive pre-clinical and clinical translational data packages and derived insights, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory standards
- Advancing biomarker strategies and applying insights to clinical development.
- Driving innovation, scientific excellence, and team development.
- Acting as an ambassador of Genmab science in both internal and external forums.

We have a hybrid model that requires being onsite 60% of the time in Princeton, NJ or Utrecht, NL.
Responsibilities
Strategic and scientific leadership
- Lead global TS TM&R efforts supporting translational strategies, planning, data generation, and insight delivery across all stages of development
- Oversee the development and implementation of biological mechanisms into actionable hypotheses to guide translational strategies that inform trial design, dose optimization, patient selection/stratification, combinations, efficacy monitoring and drive data-driven decision-making
- Conduct recurrent reviews of translational strategies across the portfolio to refine strategic and tactical approaches based on emerging data, medical need, and changes in the treatment landscape.
- Support data contextualization for regulatory submissions, publications, and scientific communications
- Review and approve integration of translational content into regulatory applications including INDs, BLAs, Clinical Study Protocols and Reports, and other regulatory documents (Technical Reports, Regulatory submissions and responses, etc.) Represent TM&R across internal governance bodies and external collaborations
- Champion the application of novel technologies to inform decision-making and enable compound differentiation
- Partner with cross-functional teams to implement AI/ML models for translational insight generation to optimize and accelerate asset development
- Contribute to building foundational knowledge across formats, targets, and safety profiles
- Actively engage with key opinion leaders, technology companies, foundations to advance translational initiatives
- Oversee scientific writing, ensuring high-quality contributions to patents, regulatory documentation, publications, and external presentations across the portfolio
- Present Genmab's translational science at global conferences, expert panels, and in collaboration with academic institutions
- Participate in patient advocacy groups and support initiatives to advance patient engagement
- Strategically plan workforce capabilities and enable a high-performing global team
- Promote scientific and leadership development through targeted training and mentoring
- Drive employee engagement and well-being, leveraging insights from engagement surveys and continuous feedback
- Foster a culture that emphasizes scientific rigor, productivity, and collaboration
- Create a supportive and inclusive workspace that encourages diverse ideas and perspectives
Qualifications
- PhD or MD/PhD in a relevant scientific field (e.g., Immunology, Oncology, Molecular Biology).
- 15-20+ years of drug development experience in biotech/pharma, with demonstrated leadership in translational science or biomarker strategy
- Strong track record of influencing drug development decisions from preclinical to late-stage programs
- Experience leading large, multidisciplinary teams and fostering global collaboration
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
- Commitment to scientific excellence, strong work ethics, and a passion for translational studies to serve as an inspiration to the team
For US based candidates, the proposed salary band for this position is as follows:
$266,640.00---$399,960.00
The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation, such as discretionary bonuses and long-term incentives.
