About the Role:
We're looking for an Associate Director, Patient Advocacy & Professional Engagement on the Patient Advocacy team to help us expand what's possible for patients with serious diseases. Reporting to the Director, Patient Advocacy and Professional Engagement, you'll play an instrumental role in building and leading patient advocacy and professional society engagements, supporting the overall program strategy. Your primary focus will be on cultivating strong relationships with patient communities, advocacy groups, professional societies and individual patients, to better understand their needs, experiences, and challenges. You will also be instrumental in providing the perspective as we design and execute our clinical development programs. You will work cross-functionally to integrate actionable insights from patients, patient communities and HCPs into our programs and decisions.
What You'll Do:
In this role, you'll have the opportunity to be the bridge between patient organizations and patients, physician organizations and KOLs, and our organization, ensuring their perspectives influence our decision-making processes, clinical development strategies, and patient support initiatives, as well as support large-scale collaborative research and quality improvement projects with patient and professional associations aligned to internal business objectives and external strategic priorities. You'll also:
- Develop and execute a Patient & Professional Organization engagement strategy aligned to internal business needs and external community needs.
- Collaborate and co-create with Patient & Professional Organizations to identify and implement innovative initiatives to empower patients to seek optimal and informed care.
- Participate and support Patient Organization events, workshops, and conferences to promote awareness and foster patient community engagement.
- Collaborate and co-create with Professional Medical Associations to identify and implement innovative initiatives intended to address the evolving medical science related to Ismed therapeutic areas, as directed.
- Build and maintain a KOL strategy with the identified thought leaders in the assigned therapeutic/disease states.
- Implement a systematic strategic framework to ensure patient experience is incorporated into all critical business decisions across the asset lifecycle
- Engage with patient advocacy groups, foundations, and individual patients to understand their perspectives and needs as it related to Patient-Focused Drug Development
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in the patient community.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure patient perspective is internally understood and incorporated into company culture as well as ensure patient needs are considered at all stages of product development.
- Represent the company in external forums and conferences related to patient advocacy.
Who You Are:
You have a Bachelors's degree in life sciences, healthcare, public health or related fields along with 6+ years of experience in patient advocacy/engagement or related roles within the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or healthcare industries.
You are or you also have:
- Strong understanding of Pulmonary and Rare Lung diseases, with an ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences.
- Strong track record of performance in developing and driving strategic projects, including managing budgets.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with patients, advocacy groups, and internal stakeholders effectively.
- Experience working across a matrixed team structure and prioritizing appropriately.
- Demonstrated peer leadership experience and ability to inspire and motivate a matrixed team.
- Deep empathy for patients and their families, with a passion for advocating on their behalf.
- Knowledge of regulatory and ethical considerations related to patient advocacy and engagement.
- Passionate about making a difference in the lives of patients with serious and rare disease.
- Familiarity/experience with regulatory and pharmaceutical legal promotional review processes
- Highly organized with a strong attention to detail, clarity, accuracy, and conciseness
Nice to have (but not required):
- Advanced degree preferred
- Experience working in an early-stage and/or mid-cap sized company highly desired
Where You'll Work
This is a fully remote role. It can be performed effectively from anywhere while staying connected to your Insmed team and community. Occasional travel for team meetings or events will be expected.
Travel Requirements
This role requires occasional domestic/international/global travel (approximately 15%)
Pay Range:
$155,000.00-201,500.00 Annual
